In addition to the Heart Institute, the building houses an Image Guided Surgical Suite with MR and CT rooms offering real time images during surgery. Diagonal bracing visible from inside and through the curtain wall expresses the seismic structure that supports the building.

The expansion and renovation of this department accommodate the increasing number of patients seeking innovative cancer care. The added space includes two new linear accelerators, two new simulator rooms, and support and waiting areas.
The design seeks to offer patients the latest medical technology in elegant and comfortable spaces that soothe the stress of dealing with cancer.
