The New with a Nod to the Old

This energy efficient new home sits in the heart of town on a street of mostly 19th century houses.

With that in mind, these clients wanted a design that might look like a horse barn that once served those houses, but modernized. The engraving shows the utilitarian simplicity of such barns. Facing the street, you see the front, or “barn” facade. Its small windows offer privacy while harkening back to the kind of windows that often looked out of horse stalls.

Meanwhile, the back opens to an intimate garden and patio.
